| PURPOSE |
|
All Christians are told, "Go ye therefore, and teach
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of
the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded
you…." (Matthew 28:19-20a) Our primary goal as a church is to help our
congregation understand God and his word, so that we might become better
disciples, or followers, of Him. We strive to maintain a biblical balance
between truth and love and to take a balanced approach to the issues of our
day. To this end, the Bible is expounded in its context each week, and we are
encouraged to show the love of God to those around us.
Our church takes
seriously the statement in 1 Timothy 3:15 that calls churches the "pillar and
ground of the truth." We believe that the Bible offers trustworthy answers to
life's questions, even in the midst of today's moral and theological confusion.
It is part of our job to share these answers with our community and the world.
Finally and ultimately, our aim is to give honor to God. "Give unto the
Lord the glory due unto His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness
(Psalm 29:2)." "Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so
shall ye be my disciples (John 15:8)." |
